Step-by-step guide to applying handcrafted press-on nails for a salon-quality finish that lasts up to two weeks.

Start with clean, dry nails. Remove any old polish and wash your hands thoroughly. Push back your cuticles gently with a cuticle pusher — this creates more surface area for the adhesive and gives a cleaner, more natural look at the base of the nail.
Lightly buff the surface of each natural nail with a fine nail file. This removes the shine and creates a slightly rough texture that helps the adhesive bond much better. Wipe each nail with an alcohol prep pad to remove any oils or dust. This step makes a huge difference in how long your press-ons last.
Size each press-on nail to your natural nail before applying. The press-on should cover your nail bed edge to edge without overlapping onto the skin. If a nail is slightly too wide, file the sides gently to fit. Getting the right fit is key to both comfort and longevity.
For the longest hold, use nail glue rather than adhesive tabs. Apply a thin, even layer of glue to both your natural nail and the back of the press-on. Press firmly from the cuticle end down to the tip, holding for 15–20 seconds. Apply gentle pressure from each side as well to ensure full contact.
After applying all ten nails, avoid submerging your hands in water for at least one hour. This allows the glue to fully cure. For the best results, wear gloves when washing dishes and avoid using your nails as tools. With proper care, your handcrafted press-ons will look beautiful for 1–2 weeks.
