Brow Embroidery During Pregnancy: What You Need to Know

Whether you can get brows done while pregnant or breastfeeding — and the safer alternatives we recommend until after.

Brow Embroidery During Pregnancy: What You Need to Know
✦

We get asked this a lot, especially in the second trimester when energy is back and the wedding-photo or baby-shower count starts climbing. The honest answer: we don't perform brow embroidery on anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. It's not because the pigment itself is dangerous — it's about everything else around the procedure that becomes harder to predict during pregnancy.

Three main reasons. First, the numbing cream we use contains topical anaesthetics like lidocaine, which haven't been studied enough in pregnancy for us to feel comfortable applying them. Second, hormonal changes during pregnancy affect how skin absorbs and holds pigment — the colour can heal unevenly, blotchy, or much darker than intended. Third, the risk of infection, however small, carries higher stakes when you're carrying.

Healing is also unpredictable. Pregnancy increases blood flow and changes skin sensitivity dramatically. Some clients heal beautifully; others end up with patchy retention that needs multiple correction sessions. Spending 2.5 hours getting brows done is also genuinely uncomfortable when you can't lie flat in the third trimester, and we'd rather you enjoy it than tolerate it.

If you have a big event coming up, there are safer options. Brow shaping, threading, and tinting are all fine during pregnancy — they don't break the skin or use anaesthetic. A good tint plus a clean shape can carry you through photos beautifully. Brow lamination is generally considered safe too, though we recommend checking with your doctor if you have a sensitive pregnancy.

Most clients book their embroidery for around 3 to 6 months after birth, or once they've finished breastfeeding. By then your hormones have settled, your skin is back to its usual baseline, and you can actually enjoy the appointment. We're happy to hold a future booking slot for you — WhatsApp us at +65 8930 8973 and we'll pencil you in for when you're ready.
